What is Music Therapy?
Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of musical interventions to accomplish therapeutic goals. These interventions address a variety of healthcare and educational goals and are personalized to each client’s needs, abilities, and/or diagnoses. Therapy sessions are led by a professional who has completed an American Music Therapy Association approved university program and is certified by the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
Evidence Based
Music is the only art form processed on both sides of the brain. Music therapy engages multiple parts of the brain through this bilateral processing and helps to address clinical needs that may be harder to improve without musical interventions. Research has shown that music therapy can improve cognitive, communication, physical, social, and emotional needs.
